Scott's Web Hangout

if you build it...they will come

Hello, my name is Scott Newby. I graduated in May 2002 with my BSEE from the University of Illinois and live in St. Charles, Illinois. I have accepted a job with the State Department and will be living in the Washington DC / Virginia area beginning September 2003. I was in the Navy for four years as an Interior Communications (IC) Electrician aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Independence CV-62. I visited many countries in Southeast Asia including: Australia, Hong Kong, the Philippine's, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.), the Persian Gulf and was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan for three years.

After my Navy enlistment, I attended Elgin Community College and received my Associate of Science degree. I then transfered to the University of Illinois. I was the Public Relations Officer of IEEE at UIC and have published a newsletter called the Electron which came out once a month during the semester.

The EECS department split in the Fall 2001. The ECE ( Electrical and Computer Engineering ) and CS ( Computer Science ) departments will comprise new curriculums and requirements. To find out more about the split and how it will affect you click here.
