Officer Elections

Officer Elections will be held on April 7th. If you would like to run for an officer position or want to know what the duties and responsibilities of each position are, stop by 307 CCC or ask one of the officers.  There are many benefits to being an officer.

It looks good on your resume, builds social skills and enables you to meet friends in your discipline.  This also shows employers you are willing to sacrifice some of your time to do something besides homework and shows you can bal

ance school-work with other things which will be required in the workplace.  If you are thinking about becoming an officer, stop by.  More information can be obtained by clicking here.

Technology Corner

new technology, software-defined radio, is currently being developed and will enable hardware to be upgraded as services become available in the future. Instead of replacing the hardware, the user simply decides what upgrades they need and that's it.  Currently the FCC is looking into ways to harness the technology for the benefit of consumers

while making the best use of airwave space.  This technology can be compared to a computer able to run multiple programs at once.  The technology most likely will not become commercially available for at least a year or more.  This technology seems to be geared toward the cellular market and will enable users to download items much as you would

with a computer and receive upgrades to their services immediately.  This gives rise to the importance of embedded systems and how technology is always changing. It is really amazing how far we have come in the past ten years.  Just imagine what the next ten will encompass.

Look for software-defined radio to start changing the way people communicate.

Interviewing tips and strategies

Recruiters generally want to know  if you can do the job, if you will do the job, and if you will be compatible with the rest of their team.  By

giving examples of how you went above and beyond the call of duty, you let recruiters know you can do what is expected.
